Even as the price of XRP (Ripple) has plunged by nearly half, funds have continued to flow steadily into spot XRP ETFs, defying typical market investment patterns.

According to DL News on March 11 (local time), spot XRP ETFs have attracted approximately $1.44 billion in cumulative inflows since their launch in November 2025. During the same period, XRP’s price fell from around $3 to about $1.40, marking a nearly 50% decline, yet ETF inflows have not slowed significantly.

Eric Balchunas, ETF analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, described the trend as highly unusual. Posting on X, he noted, “It is almost unheard of for a new ETF to maintain inflows while down about 45%,” explaining that XRP ETF flows differ markedly from the typical behavior of traditional investment products.

Generally, new ETFs experience initial inflows due to the so-called “shiny object effect,” driven by expectations of price gains, but investor interest often drops sharply once prices begin to decline. Analysts say that when prices fall steeply in the early stages after launch, inflows typically come to a near halt.

However, XRP has shown an exceptional pattern. Balchunas attributed the phenomenon to the strong support base within the XRP community. He analyzed that “a significant portion of these inflows is likely driven not by average retail investors but by XRP super fans.”

Matt Hougan, Chief Investment Officer at Bitwise, shared a similar view. He explained that although many investors hold a pessimistic outlook on XRP, actual fund flows are being driven by a strong base of supporters, saying, “The XRP Army has deep conviction and tends to continue buying even during price declines.”

A similar trend has been observed to some extent with Solana (SOL) ETFs. Despite SOL’s price dropping about 57% since the ETF launch in July 2025, Solana ETFs have attracted approximately $1.45 billion in inflows. However, experts note that, unlike XRP, inflows into SOL ETFs appear to be driven more by a professional investor base.
