Solana has officially begun targeting institutional capital in Asia, emphasizing tokenization and payment infrastructure over speculation at the ‘Accelerate APAC’ event held in Hong Kong.

According to investment media outlet FXStreet on February 12 (local time), Solana (SOL) presented a blueprint at the ‘Accelerate APAC’ event in Hong Kong to position itself as the execution layer for Asia’s “internet capital markets.” The vision aims to build an on-chain market where asset issuance, trading, lending, and settlement can take place 24/7 without traditional exchanges, banks, or clearing institutions.

Rather than the overheated atmosphere typical of past bull markets, this event focused on building infrastructure necessary for payments, tokenization, and institutional onboarding. Discussions expanded on points of integration with traditional finance, including SOL staking-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs), digital asset trusts, stablecoin payment rails, tokenized securities, and regulated exchange-traded products (ETPs).

Notably, asset managers such as Mirae Asset and ChinaAMC participated alongside infrastructure firms including CME Group, Fireblocks, and Cumberland. Their presence highlighted Solana’s active pursuit of collaboration with traditional financial institutions.

Payments also emerged as a central theme. Multiple sessions addressed compliant stablecoin infrastructure and cross-border payment use cases, placing greater emphasis on real-world adoption than speculative trading. Alibaba Cloud and various crypto-native developers demonstrated the potential integration of blockchain payment layers with AI-based applications, reaffirming Solana’s strategy centered on speed and scalability.

The overarching message of the event was simple: Build. Despite a nearly 70% price decline over the past year, speakers repeatedly emphasized refining operational components such as payments, custody, settlement, and identity verification rather than focusing on market narratives. Observers noted that Solana did not claim immunity from market cycles, but clearly signaled its intention to concentrate on what matters regardless of them.
