Bitcoin (BTC), once worth just $10, has surged past $100,000 in less than 15 years, creating numerous new millionaires. Analysts now predict that by 2030 it could reach $1 million and establish itself as the ultimate retirement asset.
According to investment outlet The Motley Fool on February 14 (local time), citing Henley & Partners’ 2025 Crypto Wealth Report, approximately 145,100 individuals worldwide have become millionaires through Bitcoin investments. Bitcoin, which was valued at only $10 on June 10, 2011, experienced exponential growth, surpassing $100,000 in December 2024 and soaring to an all-time high of $126,000 in October 2025.
This remarkable wealth creation has been driven by unparalleled long-term returns. From 2012 to 2025, Bitcoin ranked as the top-performing global asset in 10 out of 14 years, recording triple-digit gains in seven of those years. Although it suffered severe declines of more than 57% in 2014, 2018, and 2022, it has never posted back-to-back annual losses, consistently rebounding strongly and dispelling market concerns.
In fact, despite losing 64% of its value in 2022, Bitcoin recovered with consecutive triple-digit gains in 2023 and 2024, fully offsetting its losses. Prominent figures in the crypto industry argue that this resilience supports the possibility of Bitcoin reaching $1 million by 2030 or even earlier. Based on the current price of $70,000, such a target would require a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 70%. Considering Bitcoin’s historical tendency to double periodically, many believe this projection is not unrealistic.
Although Bitcoin has recently experienced significant volatility after hitting new highs, experts describe this as part of its characteristic four-year cycle, typically consisting of three years of expansion followed by one year of contraction. If historical patterns hold true—where powerful bull markets have consistently followed bear markets—the current correction phase could soon give way to another strong rally that once again propels investors toward millionaire status.
