An analysis suggests that XRP (Ripple) could ironically become a key beneficiary in the next bull market, as interest in the altcoin market has fallen to an all-time low.

According to DL News on March 7 (local time), on-chain analytics platform Santiment reported that mentions of “altseason” on social media have recently dropped to their lowest level in years. Santiment noted that historically, such sharp declines in interest have often marked the starting point of major altcoin rallies.

“Almost no one is talking about altseason right now,” Santiment said. “However, looking at past data, it was precisely when social interest in altcoins reached extreme lows that price rebounds began.” The firm added that these periods often coincide with large market participants starting to deploy capital.

Altseason refers to a market phase in which capital flows from Bitcoin (BTC) into other cryptocurrencies, leading to sharp price surges over a short period. In the current cycle, however, upward momentum has been largely concentrated in Bitcoin and a few select assets. Even Ethereum (ETH) has been relatively sidelined in the broader rally, leaving the overall altcoin market in a prolonged slump.

Santiment explained that over the past two years, it compared the volume of “altseason” mentions across various social platforms with Dogecoin (DOGE) price movements and found a recurring pattern: whenever mentions dropped sharply, prices tended to form a bottom and then rise. Conversely, when altseason mentions surged, prices were often near their peaks.

If this pattern repeats, XRP could emerge as a leader in the next altcoin rally. Historically, XRP has been one of the major altcoins to move first at the start of altseason. In 2017, it surged from below $0.01 to around $3.80, and during the 2021 DeFi boom, it climbed from approximately $0.17 to nearly $2.
