XRP (Ripple) has fallen to $1.36, leaving investors at a crossroads over whether to sell now or hold on longer.

According to cryptocurrency media outlet Watcher Guru on March 1 (local time), XRP is trading around $1.36, marking a sharp decline from its 52-week high of $3.64. The Fear & Greed Index points to “Extreme Fear,” and investors are divided over whether to continue holding. The outlet noted, “How long to hold XRP depends on which price scenario investors believe and how much volatility they are willing to endure.”

Price forecasts for 2026 vary dramatically. Geoffrey Kendrick of Standard Chartered set a 2026 price target of $8, citing regulatory clarity and the launch of a spot XRP ETF in November 2025. In contrast, Alex Kalcidi offered a more conservative target of $3, emphasizing that the XRP Ledger must expand real-world adoption across three pillars: payment and settlement networks, tokenized asset platforms, and institutional financial infrastructure.

From a technical perspective, breaking above $2 is considered the first gateway to a trend reversal. Conversely, if $1.27 fails to hold, the bearish scenario could strengthen. The lawsuit with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) officially concluded in August 2025, and the spot XRP ETF launched thereafter attracted approximately $1.37 billion in its initial weeks, boosting market expectations. However, some exchange analysts suggest that major positive catalysts may already be priced in, projecting that XRP could trade within a range for a significant part of 2026.

Annual price projections range widely from $1.81 to $8. In particular, the pace of real-world adoption of Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin and its utilization in the cross-border payments market are cited as additional catalysts. If ETF inflows and RLUSD expansion improve simultaneously, the bullish scenario could gain traction. However, in the absence of clear new catalysts, a prolonged sideways market cannot be ruled out.

Experts repeatedly advise, “Accumulate in phases during periods of fear, and avoid chasing parabolic rallies.” For short-term traders, a breakout above $2 will be key, while for mid- to long-term investors, the realization of the adoption narrative by mid-2027 is expected to be the turning point. Ultimately, analysts say the appropriate holding period for XRP depends on whether one believes in the $3 base-case scenario or the $8 bullish outlook.
